BE VIGILANT AND BE AWARE

YOUR SURROUNDINGS AT ALL TIMES!
There is a noticeable increase in transient traffic in and
around our building and neighborhood. Dorothy and overs are seeing it all
around the city as people are restless and looking for a place to settle.
They travel on foot, bikes, bikes with carts attached and sometimes in
vehicles that park in the neighborhood for a few days to see the active and
engage in the neighborhood before them to move.
The longer they stay the more opportunity they have to study and scope out
targets to hit.
Here's some recommended reminders from Dorothy:
With the holidays fast approaching, more packages will be
delivered and left out in the lobby for all to see as they walk by the
building. This allows those whose intent it is to commit a crime of theft to have ample opportunity to do just that.
But each one of us can do our part to prevent thieves from
breaking into our home spaces and disrupt our peace.

IT IS VITAL THAT WE KEEP ITEMS OUT OF VIEW AND NOT BE VIEWABLE & NOT BE VIEWABLE FROM THE PEOPLE WALKING BY OUR PLACE.

ALL ITEMS SHOULD BE PLACE IN YOUR STORAGE ROOM.
1. The front lobby.
Pick up your packages as soon as they are
delivered. (if you see a package addressed for your next door neighbor,
please deliver it to them)
2. Please do not leave valuables in or around your
parked vehicles.
(Even if you park in the garage)
3. If you walk your animals after dark,
please use
the front entrance to go out and enter.
4. No Piggies!
Please do not allow people you do not know to
“piggyback” behind you as you enter the building. It is okay to ask them
who they are here to visit and direct them to the call box.
5. We have some new owners and renters that have
joined our family.
Take time to meet and greet them and make them aware. Get to know your neighbors. Tell them what you know about security and why we do what we do to keep everyone safe.
6. FREE LED LIGHT BULBS for
your front door light.
We are asking
that ever front door at our complex is lighted.
We want anyone looking up from the street to see a light on at each front door.
If you need one, let us know, we will even
put it in for you, let a board member know.
7. If you see something suspicious
don’t hesitate to
call or text our MEWS security liaison Dorothy
Elmore, Unit 1, at 503-593-8714 or if
urgent - - dial 911 for police.
NEWS Update:
One of the guys that broke in our complex is going to jail for a while!
BACKGROUND:
On or around the 1st of November, the District
Attorney called (Sue Gress) the person that owns the Buoy One Marina and Blue
frog floating docks.
Both marinas are located
just East of our complex.
Sue told the
DA, she wanted to proceed with prosecution and restitution.
HERE’S WHAT WE KNOW – HE IS GOING TO JAIL
1. Defendant is in the dept. of corrections for 30 months,
may
be eligible for release in 16 - 20 months.
2. He was convicted of Burglary in the 1st degree,
theft, criminal mischief, plead to 4 counts of burglary in the 1st degree and
other charges that I couldn't get written down quickly enough.
These charges
were in direct relationship to what he did at TriMet and the marinas. The MEWs thefts were not a large enough to be chargeable.
3. Compensation.
Even though there is no mechanism to ensure anyone get reimbursed. Sue asked for restitution, but most likely
will not get anything.

Teri Loporchio (the manager of both marinas, works for Sue)
sent us photos of three creeps down by the Blue Frog gazebo it looked like they
were trying to figure out how to get past the locked gates.
Their camera system recorded (our camera system does the exact same thing) and
taped them saying keywords like dock, water, under the I-5 bridge, fire
somewhere…
THESE PEOPLE BROKE INTO OUR PLACE EARLIER THIS YEAR:
The photos of the people were taken from the camera system
at the Blue Frog in this past week.
The people did not realize they were being recorded and taped.
They spent about 30+ minutes talking back and forth and
walking around the gazebo.
Two guys and a gal. Once the gal realized our camera were there,
they took off very quickly. They came from the west and walked by the Channel
Condos before landing at Blue Frog for a bit.
